Dear Parent or Guardian,

I am excited to have your student in my English class, and I look forward to a successful school year with valuable learning experiences available for them.

In order to ensure a positive and rewarding classroom experience, I have developed a discipline plan to guide each student’s behavior.  This plan includes a list of rules, opportunities for positive recognition of good behavior, and consequences for inappropriate behavior.  The classroom discipline plan is as follows:

Expectations

1.       Follow directions.

2.       Be punctual and prepared for class.

3.       Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

4.       Speak in a respectful manner.

Positive Recognition

* I will encourage students’ good behavior by recognizing them with positive notes and phone calls home.

* I will also encourage students with verbal and nonverbal praise.

Consequences

If a student decides to misbehave, these actions will be taken:

1st offense- Warning

2nd offense- Last out (student waits for all classmates to leave before exiting the room)

3rd offense- Detention

4th offense- Call Parents/coaches

Severe Clause- Send to principal

If you have any concerns or questions after reviewing the discipline plan with your student, please feel free to contact me via telephone (972.923.4600 ext 158) or email (Rgage@wisd.org) or simply return the form below.  I appreciate your cooperation.

Sincerely,
