After attending Emporia State Teacher’s College and Wichita State University, I received my B.G. S. degree from Wichita State University. While attending college, I worked for The Sun newspaper and KAKE-TV, an ABC affiliate. After graduation, I continued to work at KAKE.

When my family moved to Waxahachie in 1990, I completed Texas teacher certification at Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

I taught GED and Introduction to Algebra classes at Navarro College before joining WISD.
